Mallappally Grama Panchayat is located in Mallappally block of Mallappally taluk. Mallappally Grama Panchayat has an area of ​​20.01 sq km. It was formed in 1947. Mallappally Panchayat was formed on Independence Day 1951. It also included the villages of Mallappally, Puthussery, Pariyaram and Kodumudissery.] With the village redefinition in 1962, the present Mallappally Panchayat was formed including Mallappally village. Mallappally Panchayat was formed in 1951 in Thiruvalla taluk, which was a part of Alappuzha district till 1982.

Behind the name

It is said that this place got its name Mallappally in the sense of village of athletes or giants. Since the word Malla means athlete and the word Palli means village, it is reasonable to say that Mallappally was the homeland of the Mallans.

Boundaries

The boundaries of the panchayat are Anikad panchayat on the north, Anikad, Kottangal, and Ezhumattoor panchayats on the east, Puramattom, Kallooppara panchayats on the south, and Karukachal and Kunnanthanam panchayats on the west.
