BIODIVERSITY

Biodiversity activities at the Gram Panchayat level are implemented with the aim of nature conservation, sustainable use of local resources and people's participation. The main activities are:

  • Formation and functioning of Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC).

  • Preparation of People's Biodiversity Register (PBR) to record the flora, fauna, water resources and traditional knowledge of the area.

 

  • Conservation of indigenous species of plants and animals.

 

 

  • Conservation and restoration of ponds, wetlands, rivers and forest areas.

 

  • Tree planting and greening activities.

 

  • Organizing environmental awareness programs, school activities and nature clubs.

 

  • Reducing pollution by promoting waste management.

 

  • Promoting herbal gardens, organic farming and conservation of native seeds.Increase public participation and awareness related to biodiversity conservation.

 

  • Implement conservation projects in collaboration with the State Biodiversity Board.

 

Through these activities, the Gram Panchayat conserves the natural resources of the area and ensures sustainable development.
