Vigilance Committee

The Vigilance Committee is a protection mechanism functioning at the local level to safeguard the rights of women and children and to ensure their physical, mental, and social security. It works to prevent violence, violation of rights, social discrimination, and other forms of injustice against women and children.

The primary responsibility of the Vigilance Committee is to take immediate action in cases of violence, discrimination, and exploitation against women and children and to ensure the necessary legal and social support.

 

🟦 Objectives of the Vigilance Committee

  • Protect the rights of women and children.
  • Take strong and timely interventions against violence, discrimination, and exploitation.
  • Receive complaints and take appropriate remedial measures.
  • Coordinate with the Women’s Commission, District Vigilance Committee, legal aid agencies, and other relevant institutions whenever necessary.
  • Ensure that government schemes and welfare programmes for women and children reach the public.
  • Create a women-friendly and child-friendly social environment.
  • Ensure community monitoring, participation, and support.
